The String of Soul

The G string (3rd string) is perhaps the most expressive string for blues and rock bends. It sits right in the vocal frequency range of the guitar.

Tuning Stability

It is notorious for going out of tune (the "G string curse"), but musically, it is vital. It holds the 3rd of the E Major chord (G# at the 1st fret) and the flat 7th of the A Pentatonic scale (G at the open string). Memorize it to play with emotion/.
